Our faculty offers a postgraduate course in law resulting in a "Magistra/Magister Legum" (LL.M.), which can be taken by lawyers who have graduated outside of Germany.
The aim of the Master's programme is to familiarise foreign students with the basic features of the German legal system and to deepen their knowledge in a chosen field of law (public law, criminal law, civil law). The program concludes with a Master's examination, i.e. a Master's thesis and an oral examination.
On average, the course is completed in 2 semesters.
The admission requirements are a law degree equivalent to the German law degree in its demands, as well as a sufficient command of the German language, both written and spoken.
The postgraduate course is free of charge. Each student is supervised by a professor of the Faculty of Law.
The International Office of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena will answer all your questions regarding your university degree obtained abroad and the language requirements.
Students can start the program in either the winter semester or summer semester
